IAI‘s ROBO Cylinder® was adopted for equipment that performs both processes of applying silicon to a printed circuit board and press-fitting a cover.

While the printed circuit board is moved with the RCP3-SA5R on the bottom, the coating and press-fitting are performed with the RCA2-TW4N on the top.

Automating a manual process has doubled the production efficiency.

Also, the changeover became easy whenever the workpiece changed, which reduced the amount of man hours necessary.

IAI CT4 Cartesian robot with grip-and-turn functionality

IAI’s CT4 is now equipped with a variation of Pick Rotate specification which provides a grip-and-turn function. The grip-and-turn function, for light work pieces, allows efficient handling of materials and shapes which are difficult to grip by vacuum.

Easy to learn XSEL Programming Software.  This short video focuses on Program and Position (Data Table) training.
1: Program
Input to the program data sheet in the PC software all necessary commands in the “SEL language” (IAI’s original language) that instruct the details and sequence of operations.
2: Position (Data Table)
Determine the positions to move the robot to, and input them to the position data sheet in the PC software as coordinates.

6: Labyrinth Structure to Suppress Intrusion of Foreign Matter into X-axis
The X-axis opening is structured as a labyrinth in order to make it difficult for foreign matter dropping onto the actuator (such as screws, molten metal, dust, etc.) and entering the X-axis.  This expands the types of work environment supported.

Robo Cylinders are available in a wide variety of configurations to suit the requirements of your specific application. The main variations are found in the basic body construction and the type of motor employed.

The Robo Cylinder® RCS series feature AC servo motors integrated with the ballscrew, eliminating the need for a coupling. Model types include slider, folded-motor slider, rod, and single, double, or ball-bushing type guided rod actuators. RCS actuators utilize incremental or absolute optical rotary encoders. Due the use of an AC Servo motor, the RCS is best suited to high-speed, low-payload applications requiring constant torque.
